THE STORY OF CHOPIN (1810-1849)

DID YOU KNOW. . .

Chopin, known as the "Poet of the Piano," wrote almost exclusively for this instrument.

Chopin is the most famous Polish composer. He absorbed the folk music of his native land and incorporated features of it in many works.

In his own performances and through his music, Chopin changed the nature of piano playing--he created the modern piano style.

He spent his adult life in Paris, where he was a favorite of high society, and died there at the age of 39.

Narrated by Arthur Hannes
