The purpose of this book is to familiarize the student with both sacred and classical art and provide an opportunity to analyze both the content and the style of these selections. The text begins with a study of art depicting famous events in Greek and Roman history and mythology that correspond with the content studied in History 7. The second half of the text moves to a study of art depicting the lives of the apostles and events within the early Church, chosen to foster an appreciation of beautiful sacred art that corresponds with the study of Acts of the Apostles and the early Church in Religion 7. The student is guided to consider similarities and differences between different artists and within the works of a single artist. The questions within the text continue to refine the student's observational skills. The text includes several appendices that encourage a deeper analysis of artistic elements.
